Fernandina Island is the youngest and third largest island in the Galapagos, as well as the westernmost. It has an area of 642 km² and a height of 1,476 m, with a boiler at the top about 6.5 km wide. It is younger than Isabela, having only less than a million years since its formation. The island with the most geological activity, its volcano last erupted less than 10 years ago years.
